The FAS-SEAS Senate Mission Statement:
The mission of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences is to preserve, advance, and transmit knowledge through inspiring research, teaching, and art.
Welcome to the website of Yale’s Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FAS) and School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS) Senate. The 25-member elected body represents faculty from all ranks and divisions within FAS and SEAS, and is a key structure in supporting faculty self-governance where faculty have the opportunity to voice their opinions and concerns about University policy and matters of University-wide concern. The Senate, formed in 2015, is the voice for FAS and SEAS faculty, and embraces a vision of shared governance where faculty are regularly consulted on academic issues, and where faculty decisions can heavily influence policies that are under their purview of responsibility.
